Getting the Good Word Out

Sun Nov 22, 2009, 6:52 PM
After a 1-in-a-million chance online encounter with Sarah Alvarez, the only Lemongrass Spa consultant on the East Coast, I find myself with a wealth of new opportunities. She started a Yahoo group for crafters in Connecticut, which she invited me to join after seeing a post I put on the freecycle group we are both a part of. Soon after, she asked me to make some masks for her and told me about a wonderful little shop in Plainville, CT, called Apples, Brooms, and Cauldrons. The store was only a few short blocks from my apartment, yet I had never heard of it. Sarah asked me to meet her there so we could talk about the masks she wanted me to make.

Apples, Brooms, and Cauldrons ([link]) is a store for all things wiccan. While I don't hold to any particular belief, the mythology of the faith has always interested me, and I find that some of my masks are in a style that appeals to the fairy-loving witch. When Sarah arrived at the store, we sat down with her friend at the table where the store owner was reading, and in a matter of minutes, the three of them were oohing and aahing over my masks. The owner made the comment, "Where were you for Halloween?! These would have sold immediately!" The owner invited me to put my business cards on display in her store, and we will probably start talking about selling my masks in her store.

So, in conclusion- Hooray!
